Step 1: Installing Csound on your Windows XP system

Once you’ve acquired the installation package from sourceforge.net (to repeat, download this 24 MB installer)

and just double click it.

The installation is fairly simple. It will install about 2000 files (50 MB worth) in C:\Program Files\Csound by default. (Don’t be alarmed; the doc subdirectory is 20 MB of that.)

The installation will also create a menu true under the Start menu button.

    This is sort of a catch-all site for me to write about anything that comes time mind involving my use of computers to write music. Since around 2007 I've gotten back into algorithmic composition and the use of open source tools. In particular, you'll see posts about Csound and ChucK. In 2008, the One Laptop Per Child group (www.laptop.org) made available many gigbytes of samples and loops, completely copyright-free, for people to use in their work. I recommend you check that out as well (there's a page in this site for it). Pages vs. Posts on this blog: Pages are more along the lines of articles whereas the Blog posts are just random observations. There's no sharp distinction between the two however. Maybe someday, I'll organize it better. But probably not. (Incidentally I really like this "Digg 3 Column" theme...)
